When to Send Out Your Wedding Invitations
One of the most common questions we receive at Blanche Heirloom is “When should I send my wedding invitations?” The timing can feel tricky to navigate, especially with varying guest lists, travel considerations, and stationery timelines. Below, we’ve outlined our recommended schedule to help you plan with ease and confidence.
Save the Dates
When to Send: 6–8 months before the wedding
For destination weddings or holiday weekends, we recommend sending these closer to the 8-month mark. Save the dates give your guests plenty of time to arrange travel, accommodation, and scheduling — especially helpful for out-of-town attendees.
Wedding Invitations
When to Send: 2–4 months before the wedding
This is the ideal window to ensure your guests receive the full invitation suite with time to RSVP, plan, and prepare. For destination weddings or events with significant travel, consider sending invitations closer to 6-8 months in advance.
RSVP Deadline
Recommended: 1 month before the wedding
This gives you enough time to finalize headcounts, seating charts, menus, and day-of details with your vendors. Be sure to clearly note the RSVP deadline on your response cards or online RSVP site.
Tips for Staying on Track
- Begin the design process early — ideally 4–6 months before your mailing date — especially for custom or letterpress suites.
- Confirm guest addresses in advance to avoid last-minute delays.
- Plan for assembly and mailing time, particularly if you’re using embellishments like wax seals, ribbon, or vintage postage.
